The National Tutoring Programme
Information about Protocol Education's NTP offering
Protocol Education is a National Tutoring Programme Tuition Partner. Below is information about who we recruit, clear and train our tutors and details of how we run our NTP tuition programmes.
Protocol Education has been at the forefront of supporting schools, local authorities and pupils throughout England for over 28 years.
Our nationwide branch network works with over 3,500 schools annually, and we are recognised for providing a knowledgeable and reliable local service. We work across all age groups, school phases and subjects, fulfilling many staffing roles including small group and 1:1 tuition to support thousands of disadvantaged children every year.
Providing tuition services since 2007, our success in this area is down to close engagement with school leaders to understand pupil needs, tutor compatibility and ongoing feedback on effectiveness.

Tutors are required to complete “The Tutor Toolkit”, a CPD Accredited training course developed by Best Practice Network. Comprised of six modules the course covers a range of topics and offers practical tools for delivering high-impact tuition. Every tutor will also have completed Level 2 or above safeguarding training.
Schools are assigned a Tuition Manager who is contactable during school hours. Throughout each programme, Tuition Managers will meet with you (in-school or online) to discuss progress. As well as regular communication between classteachers and our tutors, our LEAP portal will also play a key role in communication and reporting.
The assessment tool used by our tutors will uncover existing learning gaps prior to the start of tuition. The results will be used to build personalised and focused tuition programmes. Assessment is on-going, with feedback returned after each session, culminating in an end of programme assessment to measure pupil progress.
