Are you trained in therapeutic practices, or gaining skills in the field? Protocol Education is seeking proactive individuals who are therapy trained, or volunteer within therapy-focused groups such as counselling, speech and language, drama, or art therapy.

This is a full time role and will involve working with children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) or SEND Needs (Special Educational Needs).

Experience in this kind of work is preferable and should be clearly shown on your CV along with any training for the role you may have completed - this can be in a professional or informal/voluntary capacity.

This is a rewarding role, but it can also be tough, so you would need to be resilient and self-reflective. You also need excellent communication skills, patience and the ability to demonstrate empathy for the situation of the child you are supporting.

The Role

Supporting students with additional needs through specified intervention routes

Using your background to implement therapy techniques such as speech and language, drama, or art

Maintaining a calm and empathic approach to the students' learning

Providing support on a 1:1 and small group basis to ensure the students remain focussed and engaged in the classroom

Supporting the class teacher in managing behaviour and expectations within the lesson space

You will need to have a comprehensive understanding of the student's needs and be able to effectively provide specialist support.
