Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary School Teaching Assistant with a strong emphasis on safeguarding to join our dynamic team in Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the overall educational and personal development of students, with a specific focus on creating a safe and secure learning environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Safeguarding Support:

    • Work closely with teachers and other staff members to contribute to the development and implementation of effective safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Act as a key point of contact for students who may require additional support regarding safeguarding concerns.
    • Monitor student well-being and behavior, identifying and addressing any signs of distress, vulnerability, or potential safeguarding issues.
  2. Classroom Assistance:

    • Collaborate with teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Provide support to students in their academic and personal development, adapting assistance to individual needs.
    • Assist in the preparation and organization of classroom materials and activities.
  3. Individualized Support:

    • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who require additional assistance, adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
    • Provide emotional support to students, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other staff members regarding student progress and well-being.
    • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals as necessary to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  5. Training and Development:

    • Stay informed about current safeguarding guidelines and attend relevant training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to continually improve your effectiveness in supporting students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary school students in an educational or youth-focused setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and professionals.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
