Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Assistant to join our team. As a Support Assistant at the School, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to students with a range of needs, including academic, behavioral, and special educational needs (SEN). This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and contribute to their overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with academic challenges, ensuring they understand lesson materials and can effectively participate in classroom activities.
  2. Assist students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities, implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and providing accommodations as necessary to promote their inclusion and success.
  3. Support students' social and emotional development by providing guidance, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
  4. Assist teachers with classroom management, behavior management, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  5. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support student learning and well-being.
  6. Help create and prepare teaching resources, materials, and activities to support lesson plans and meet the diverse needs of students.
  7. Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and extracurricular activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  8. Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns or issues that may arise.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is preferred but not essential.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support student learning and well-being.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
