Job Duties:

Protocol Education are currently working with a range of Primary Schools in Hackney who are looking for motivated and enthusiastic TA's to work with children with SEN including ASD.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support students with special educational needs in their learning and development. This includes assisting the classroom teacher in implementing individual education plans, providing one-on-one support to students, and helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in special educational needs or a related field
  • Experience working with children or young people with special needs
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Education:

A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths is required. Additional qualifications in special education or teaching assistant roles are desirable.

Experience:

Previous experience working in a similar role within an educational setting is preferred. Experience with specific learning difficulties and behaviour management strategies is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of special educational needs and how they impact learning
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional qualifications in areas such as Makaton, Team-Teach, or Autism Awareness are desirable but not essential.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working within a school setting, supporting students with a range of special educational needs. You may be required to work flexible hours and adapt to the individual needs of the students you support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
