Job Duties:
- Provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs in a school setting.
- Assist students with their daily activities, including personal care, feeding, and mobility.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and follow specific strategies to support students' learning and development.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a conducive learning environment for students with special needs.
- Monitor and track students' progress, documenting observations and providing feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
- Help students develop their social skills, communication abilities, and independence.
- Manage challenging behaviours and provide behaviour support interventions as needed.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in special needs support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports related to students' progress and support provided.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of special needs support in an educational setting.
- Have experience or training in caring for children with special needs.
- Preferred, not essential: hold a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
Experience:
- Prior experience or training in caring for children with special needs.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of special needs support and inclusive education practises.
- Ability to provide personal care and support to students with special needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and professionals.
- Ability to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching strategies to meet students' needs.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and ability to effectively manage challenging behaviours.
- Strong organisational skills to maintain accurate records and reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional qualifications in special education or related fields.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a school setting, primarily assisting students with special educational needs.
- Full-time position, expected to work standard school hours.
- May involve occasional physical exertion when providing personal care or assisting with mobility.
- Collaboration with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support students' needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
