Position: Special Education Teacher

Class:

  • 5 pupils (mix of boys and a girl)
  • 11-13 years old
  • All with SEN needs, including ASD and one with CVI.
  • Supported by a dedicated team of 6 Teaching Assistants, including a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The HLTA can assist in planning and admin but rely on the guidance of a teacher to hold the bigger plan. All children have 1:1 support so the teacher is there to help deliver lesson plans to the TAs, who will then support differentiation.
  • Collaborate with a team that has established strong relationships with the children and understands their individual needs to support the creation and delivery of education for this class.

Key Details:

  • Full-time position (40 hrs/week) Hours: 08:15-4:45
  • Focus on social-emotional learning and core subjects tailored to each child's abilities. Working at around KS3.
  • Utilize existing planning resources while injecting your creativity and expertise.
  • Utilise offsite resources such as educational trips and activities like climbing and swimming and museums.
  • Work alongside our Land & Animal, Craft and Specialist Subject Tutors, to allow a diverse range of education embedded into different sessions.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Passion for creative and collaborative teaching methods.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to set appropriate boundaries in a therapeutic educational environment.
  • Proficient in behaviour management and trauma-informed teaching.
  • Compassionate and resilient nature.
  • Experience in outdoor learning or SEN teaching roles preferred.
