We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team in Kent. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with SEND in their academic and personal development.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Support students with classroom tasks, including reading, writing, and numeracy activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Help to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with the SEND Coordinator and other staff members to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SEND Coordinator.
  • Assist with the organization of resources and materials for SEND interventions and activities.
  • Support students during transitions between lessons and activities, providing reassurance and guidance as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and secure learning environment, adhering to school policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • A willingness to undergo relevant training and development opportunities.
