A school in Dudley is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their team.

The school is a one-form entry, with the aim to create a positive and caring environment in which every child has the opportunity to realise their true potential.

As a SENCO, you will play a vital role in ensuring that every student, regardless of their abilities or challenges, receives the support they need to thrive academically and personally. The role will involve supporting class teachers with preparing IEPs, external agency liaison and some direct work with students in small groups or one-to-one.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and preferably hold the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) or be willing to work towards it.
  • Proven experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ideally within a school setting.
  • Excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Ability to effectively assess, plan, and implement interventions to support the individual needs of students.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality within the school community.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to changing priorities.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development and keeping abreast of best practices in SEN provision.
