SEN Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education are currently working with an excellent SEND school in Hackney. They are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their school as soon as possible.. You will be working with children with a variety of special education needs. Most of the children you will be working with have very limited communication skills, and some are completely non-verbal. You will be assisting more than one class, supporting several children across the school, rather than working 1:1 with any particular child.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting children with additional needs in accessing the curriculum and making progress
  • Working closely with the SENCo and other support staff to ensure that children with additional needs receive the support they need to thrive in the classroom
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Demonstrating patience, care and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Communicating effectively with others to achieve the best outcomes for the children

Requirements

  • Proven track record of supporting children with additional needs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by children with additional needs
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for all children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
