Protocol Education are currently working with a bright and inclusive mainstream school committed to providing high-quality education for all students. As part of their commitment to inclusion, we are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join there team.

Role Overview:

As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the inclusion and academic progress of students with special educational needs. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals, you will contribute to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, adapting teaching methods and materials as necessary
  • Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans in collaboration with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff
  • Collaborate with teachers to differentiate instruction and create an inclusive classroom environment
  • Support the participation and engagement of students with special educational needs in mainstream classroom activities
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other professionals to share information and insights about student progress and challenges
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to provide updates on student development and discuss strategies for support at home
  • Assist in the creation and adaptation of learning resources to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to identify and implement appropriate assistive technologies
  • Encourage and facilitate the development of independence and self-advocacy skills in students with special educational needs

Requirements:

  • Level qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (Desirable not essential)
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a mainstream school setting (Desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and professionals
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
