Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized one-on-one support, adapting assistance to meet the unique needs of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and PMLD specialists to develop and implement personalized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Support students in daily living activities, including personal care, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance, ensuring their safety and overall well-being.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, communication, and social development among students.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and interdisciplinary team to assess and monitor progress, adjusting instructional materials and techniques to cater to individual needs.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities in a school or care setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various PMLD conditions and associated support strategies.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication methods based on individual needs.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy, coupled with a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as the role may involve working with students across different age groups and abilities.
  • A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
