Protocol Education, a leading supply agency specialising in education recruitment, is seeking dedicated and compassionate PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) Teaching Assistants to join our team. We have an exciting opportunity to work in collaboration with a prestigious PMLD specialist school located close to Dartford, Kent. Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support and assistance to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies as directed by the class teacher and school's PMLD specialists.
  • Support students with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence, communication, and social development among students.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team to assess and monitor progress, adapting instructional materials and techniques to meet individual needs.
  • Assist with the use of specialized equipment and resources, such as sensory equipment, communication aids, and adaptive technology.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and caregivers, maintaining open communication channels to ensure consistency between home and school.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities, either within a school or care setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various PMLD conditions and associated support strategies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication methods to meet individual needs.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy, with a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as the role may involve working with students across different age groups and abilities.
  • A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
