Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

£77-95 Daily

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance and encouragement they need to succeed academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, behavioural challenges, and other learning difficulties.
  2. Assist the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and classroom teachers in planning and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  3. Support students in accessing the curriculum, adapting teaching materials and activities as necessary to accommodate their learning needs.
  4. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
  5. Help students develop essential life skills, social skills, and independence, both inside and outside the classroom.
  6. Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and well-being of students with special needs.
  7. Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the SENCo and other relevant stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Previous experience working with students with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  2. Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate or equivalent are preferred but not essential.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  4. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
  5. Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
  6. A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.
