Your new role: Strong Special Needs Teaching Assistant who has previous experience working with Special Needs Children. 

Mainstream Primary school in Lewisham are looking for a SEN teaching assistant who can communicate using PECS & Makaton and has extensive experience working with special needs children. This school is looking for a full-time teaching assistant (5days/week) to provide 1-1 learning with a children in any of the following area:

  • Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties
  • ASD (autistic spectrum Disorder)
  • VI (visual impairment)
  • SLD (severe learning difficulties)
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
  • ADHD
  • SEMH
  • MLD
  • SLD
  • Sensory impairements
  • Personal care

The role starts immediately for 1 full Academic year.  The ideal candidate must have some experience working in a school setting. We are looking for someone who is patient, friendly and resilient. This suitable person should be able to create positive relationships/ positive influence/ positive enviornment for children. 

Key Responsibilities:
•Working one to one or in groups with children who have special needs to ensure that their educational needs are being met.
•Planning a program for this individual student so that they are developing at an efficient rate.
•Helping with the development of social skills and confidence alongside education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
