SEMH Specialist

£77-95 Daily

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Specialist to join our team. The SEMH Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the holistic development and wellbeing of our students, providing targeted interventions, and fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for students with SEMH needs, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Provide direct support and intervention to students, including mentoring, counselling, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Conduct assessments to identify social, emotional, and mental health needs and monitor progress over time.
  • Deliver group sessions and workshops to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills development.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including mental health services and social services, to coordinate support and resources for students and families.
  • Collaborate with the wider school community to create a culture of inclusivity and understanding around SEMH issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Special Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Previous experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health issues affecting children and adolescents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Resilience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEMH support.
  • Must be available 5 days a week.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
