An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dynamic and inspirational educator with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to assume the role of Head of Physical Education (PE) at our institution.

Job Description:

As the Head of PE, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping our PE department. With a focus on Key Stages 3 and 4, you will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives to enhance standards and student experiences within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction of the PE department, setting a compelling vision for its future.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing team of educators dedicated to excellence in PE instruction.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to elevate standards and improve student outcomes in PE.
  • Oversee the delivery of engaging and high-quality PE curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning practices within the department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate PE initiatives into broader school goals and initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical activity and well-being.
  • Provide leadership and support for extracurricular PE activities, competitions, and events.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher and senior leadership team to align departmental objectives with overall school objectives.
  • Keep abreast of developments in PE education and best practices, incorporating innovation and evidence-based approaches into departmental strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Proven experience teaching PE at Key Stages 3 and 4, demonstrating a track record of success in raising student achievement.
  • Visionary leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Forward-thinking mindset, adaptability, and commitment to innovation in education.
  • Dedication to promoting physical activity, health, and well-being among students.
