Cover Supervisor

As a Cover Supervisor, you will collaborate with senior leaders to efficiently manage day-to-day cover needs. This involves planning cover for various durations, communicating effectively with staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of classes during teacher absences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Plan cover in advance for daily, weekly, and half-term periods, considering staff absence and school events.

Effectively communicate daily cover arrangements to all staff, making adjustments as necessary throughout the day.

Supervise entire classes during short-term teacher absences, maintaining order and keeping students focused.

Provide specialist support to the curriculum, assisting teaching staff and students when cover is not required.

Offer support to students with special needs, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.

Manage classroom behaviour, complete electronic registers, and handle immediate problems or emergencies in line with school policies.

Collect completed work, reward students when appropriate, and report any behavioural issues following school procedures.

Establish productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

 

Person Specification:

 

Recent experience in a school as a classroom teacher or cover supervisor.

Use of Management Information System (MIS) for cover planning, pastoral support experience in key stages 3 or 4.

Relevant first aid knowledge, degree level education, awareness of the National Curriculum, and effective strategies for diverse student needs.

Effective time management.

Adherence to school procedures and policies.

Team player with the ability to work independently.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Commitment to meeting the needs of all students.

Good ICT skills and adaptability.

Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
