Role Overview: As an English Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students in the study of English literature, language, and literacy skills. Whether teaching classic literature, exploring contemporary texts, or developing writing and communication skills, you will play a key role in helping students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the English language and its cultural significance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to the needs and interests of students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves, think critically, and explore a range of literary texts and genres.
  • Teach a range of topics including poetry, prose, drama, and non-fiction, helping students develop analytical, interpretive, and writing skills.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technology to enhance learning and promote student engagement and achievement.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular links, enrichment activities, and extracurricular opportunities that enhance the study of English and promote literacy across the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4, and/or 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature, language, and literacy, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Innovative and creative approach to teaching, with a commitment to delivering dynamic and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community.
