Have you graduated university with a BA in English? Considering becoming an English teacher in the future? Why not gain some classroom experience prior to starting your PGCE.

Currently there is a high demand for long-term English classroom cover across secondary schools in and around the Newcastle upon Tyne and north Tyneside area.  Schools are looking for individuals who have good English subject knowledge to cover the class in the absence of the teacher. You are not expected to do lesson planning or marking.

The role:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons to KS3-4 students English students.
  • Ensure students are productive and remain engaged within the lesson
  • Manage behaviour in the classroom
  • Support the academic development of students

The requirements:

  • Has right to work in the UK
  • Has or is willing to obtain an enhanced DBS
  • Has a BA in English
  • Has good verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Is passionate about supporting students educational development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
