Role Overview: As a Design Technology Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students in a range of creative and practical design projects across various disciplines, including product design, graphics, textiles, and resistant materials. Whether teaching Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, or A-level Design Technology, you will play a key role in helping students develop essential design skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver innovative and engaging Design Technology lessons that foster creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills development.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and guidance to students in using tools, equipment, and technologies safely and effectively.
  • Support students in developing design briefs, researching, prototyping, and evaluating their design solutions, promoting a culture of experimentation and iteration.
  • Incorporate real-world contexts and industry-relevant practices into the curriculum to enhance students' understanding of the design process and its applications.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular links, projects, and enrichment activities that integrate Design Technology with other subjects and disciplines.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching Design Technology at Key Stages 3, 4, and/or 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for design and technology, with expertise in one or more areas such as product design, graphics, textiles, or resistant materials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities and backgrounds.
  • Creative and innovative approach to teaching, with a commitment to delivering dynamic and inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse needs of learners.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community.
