Salary: £245-£260 a day + Fringe Allowance - Upper Pay scale 3

This school is an academy teaching students 11-18 with a student roll of 1100 based in the picturesque village of Great Missenden.

We are seeking an expert Curriculum Leader for Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE) who can build on the excellent work of the current postholder who is relocating to a different part of the UK. Over the past five years, PRE has become one of the most successful and respected subjects in the school, studied by all students with a thriving KS4 cohort in both GCSE short course (to Year 10) and full course Religious Studies. We expect that the successful candidate will be interested in developing our A-Level offer in either Religious Studies or Philosophy.

They are committed to developing excellence in teaching and learning, underpinned by research evidence and the principles of cognitive science. They believe in working collaboratively to develop a high-quality centralised curriculum to ensure all students have a consistently excellent learning experience and the best possible chance of success, as well as ensuring a manageable workload for staff. Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for Philosophy, Religion & Ethics at the secondary level
  • Lead and manage a team of educators to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate the educational outcomes and progress of students in the subject area
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and projects
  • Stay updated on educational trends and best practises in Philosophy, Religion & Ethics education

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Degree in Philosophy, Religion, Ethics or a related field
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and educational leadership

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Philosophy, Religion & Ethics at the secondary level

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of educational principles and practises
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of educators
  • Proficiency in curriculum design and implementation
