Have you considered a career in teaching but are not sure where to start?

Protocol Education are currently working with Primary Schools in Hackney who are looking for creative graduates to support their children on a day to day basis.

You will be working with children with SEN including ASD, ADHD, MLD.

This role will give you the perfect insight into how a Primary School runs on a day to day basis.

You will be given excellent support by classroom teachers and SLT.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the primary school teacher in delivering creative and engaging lessons to students.
  • Support students with their learning, providing individual attention and guidance as needed.
  • Help to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated to learn.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during class activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Provide assistance in managing student behaviour and promoting positive discipline.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Support students in developing their social and emotional skills.
  • Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Experience working with primary school-aged children in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students and establish positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children's learning and development.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • A positive and flexible attitude towards work.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the primary school curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Understanding of child development and different learning styles.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support students with special educational needs.
  • Proficiency in using educational software and technology.
  • Ability to adapt and modify teaching materials to meet the needs of individual students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Music, Theatre, Drama

Working Conditions:

  • This is a contract position, expected to work full-time hours.
  • The role is based in a primary school setting.
  • Working hours may vary, following the school timetable.
  • The teaching assistant may need to assist with activities outside of the classroom, such as school trips or events.
  • The role requires working closely with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Appropriate health and safety measures are in place to ensure a safe working environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
