Our partenered school in Nottingham, has a fantastic opportunity for an inspiring individual to join our specialist mentoring provision at a secondary school and make a big difference to those students who need it most. The Learning Mentor team at this school focuses on removing barriers to learning and personal development which vulnerable students may face. The successful candidate will promote the inclusion of all students and bring a range of strategies that will motivate, challenge and empower further learning and ensure students make positive changes during their time in education.

What you offer:

You will have recent experience of working in a mentoring role with young people, including individuals and groups in an educational or youth work establishment. You will be reflective and resilient in the face of setbacks which can often be relevant when overcoming complex barriers with young people. You will be highly organised and have a genuine belief in the potential of every student.

Job Duties:

  • Provide mentoring support to students facing barriers to learning
  • Promote inclusion and diversity within the school environment
  • Develop and implement strategies to motivate and empower students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support student progress
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and make appropriate interventions

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant field
  • Certificate in Safeguarding
  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification

Experience:

  • Recent experience in a mentoring role with young people
  • Experience working in an educational or youth work setting

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong behaviour management abilities
  • Sensitivity and understanding towards student needs
  • Patience and resilience in challenging situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification
  • Additional training in counselling or mental health support

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time contract position
  • Expected to work standard school hours
