Primary SEND Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education are currently recruiting on behalf of several schools in Hackney who are looking for motivated and passionate educators to work on a 1:1 basis with children with ASD.

You will work closely with your key child to help them academically, socially and mentally.

The children you will be working with are based within the mainstream classroom but you will be responsible for leading interventions outside of the classroom to ensure adequate progress is being made.

Prior experience working with children with ASD would be highly beneficial for this role.

Job Duties:

  • Supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in their learning and development
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering individualised education plans
  • Providing one-on-one support to students to help them achieve their learning goals
  • Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Collaborating with other staff members and parents to support student progress

Required Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Knowledge of SEND practises and strategies

Experience:

Prior experience working with students with SEND is preferred - people with SEND experience in another industry are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different learning styles and abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience working in a primary school setting

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a primary school setting, providing support to students with SEND. The working hours are full-time, and the environment may be challenging but rewarding.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
