Autism Primary School Support

£85 - £100 Per day and in line with AWR after 12 weeks

The Role:

Protocol Education are currently working with a mainstream Primary School in Hackney who are looking for people to support children in their school with ASD.

Your role will be to build a strong relationship with your 1-1 and help them academically and socially throughout the school day.

Training and support will be provided by the class teacher, SENDCO and SLT.

This role would be suitable for experienced SEN assistants or those with personal experience of working with SEN who are looking for their first professional role.

Job Duties:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students with autism in a primary school setting
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for students
  • Scaffold learning activities and help students engage with the curriculum
  • Promote social skills development and facilitate positive peer interactions
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
  • Experience working with children or young people with autism
  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and the impact on learning

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of strategies and interventions for supporting students with autism
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting student development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in autism-specific interventions such as PECS, TEACCH, or ABA
  • Experience in using assistive technology to support learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
