Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support

Location: Maidstone

Position Overview: Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEND? As a SEND Teaching Assistant at our school, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the individual learning and development of students with a range of additional needs. Working closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers, you'll provide personalized 1:1 support to help students overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student.
  • Implement individualized support plans and interventions, under the guidance of the SENCO and classroom teachers.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents, identifying areas for further support or development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to promote inclusion and ensure that all students have equal opportunities to succeed.
  • Support students with emotional, social, and behavioral difficulties, using appropriate strategies and interventions to help them manage their emotions and behavior.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEND, preferably in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of different types of SEND and familiarity with relevant support strategies and interventions.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support would be advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
