1:1 Learning Support Assistant

A Wakefield Secondary school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join the team as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant. This position is designed to provide individualised support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Individualised Support: Work closely with a child to provide personalised assistance based on their specific learning requirements.
  2. Academic Support: Assist children in understanding and completing class assignments and projects. Reinforce learning concepts and strategies.
  3. Communication: Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to support each child’s learning goals.
  4. Behavioural Support: Implement strategies to manage and support positive behaviour and fostering a conducive learning environment.
  5. Progress Monitoring: Keep detailed records of the student's progress and share insights with the teaching team and parents as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diverse learning needs and strategies to address them.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Relevant certifications or coursework in special education or a related field is a plus.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
