Are you passionate about helping children prepare for the next big step in their education? We are seeking a caring and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a critical year of a child’s primary education, in a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated, one-to-one support to a specific student in Year 6 throughout the school day.

  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver tailored learning activities and interventions.

  • Promote the student's academic progress, social confidence, and emotional wellbeing as they prepare for secondary school.

  • Create a supportive and engaging environment that encourages independence and resilience.

  • Adapt resources and teaching methods to align with the student's individual learning style and needs.

  • Monitor and assess the student’s development, offering regular feedback to the teacher and parents.

  • Build a positive relationship with the student and maintain clear communication with staff and family members.

  • Ensure all work supports the school's policies, safeguarding measures, and ethos.

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).

  • Experience working 1:1 with children.

  • A strong understanding of the unique challenges and needs of Year 6 pupils.

  • Empathy, patience, and a calm, reliable presence in the classroom.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

  • Adaptability and initiative to adjust your approach based on the student’s changing needs.

  • Familiarity with effective support strategies and learning resources for individual students.

  • Additional qualifications in education, child development, or SEND (desirable but not essential).
