About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Shrewsbury. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting pupils’ learning and development in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As a Year 2 TA, you will work closely with the classroom teacher to deliver tailored support that meets the individual needs of pupils, fostering their academic progress, emotional well-being, and confidence.
Main Duties:

Provide one-to-one and group support to all Year 2 pupils, tailored to their unique learning needs

Collaborate with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver bespoke lessons and activities

Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development, encouraging independence and self-confidence

Create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive

Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit different learning styles and abilities
-
Assist in monitoring and assessing pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and parents

Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families, ensuring clear and open communication

Uphold the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding procedures at all times
What We’re Looking For:

Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching or Learning (or equivalent ratio experience)

Previous experience supporting pupils in Year 2

Strong empathy and a thorough understanding of individual pupil needs

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with pupils, staff, and parents

Patience, resilience, and the ability to provide emotional support when required

Flexibility and adaptability to respond to evolving pupil needs and changing classroom dynamics

Knowledge of relevant teaching strategies and resources to support individual learners
-
Relevant qualifications in education or as a teaching assistant are desirable but not essential
