About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Shrewsbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners at a key stage in their early education and play a vital role in helping them thrive academically and socially.

As a Year 1 TA, you’ll work alongside a supportive class teacher to deliver engaging lessons, encourage pupil progress, and help create a nurturing learning environment.

Main Duties:

  • Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities

  • Assist children with their academic, emotional, and social development

  • Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued

  • Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials

  • Help supervise students during break times and educational trips

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the teacher

  • Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and students

  • Uphold the school’s policies, safeguarding standards, and values

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working in an educational setting, ideally with Year 1 pupils

  • A passion for supporting young children and encouraging their development

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach to working with children

  • Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of pupils

  • Understanding of basic child development and early learning strategies

  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are desirable, though not essential
