About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Shrewsbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners at a key stage in their early education and play a vital role in helping them thrive academically and socially.
As a Year 1 TA, you’ll work alongside a supportive class teacher to deliver engaging lessons, encourage pupil progress, and help create a nurturing learning environment.
Main Duties:

Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities

Assist children with their academic, emotional, and social development

Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued

Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials

Help supervise students during break times and educational trips

Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the teacher

Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and students

Uphold the school’s policies, safeguarding standards, and values
What We’re Looking For:

Previous experience working in an educational setting, ideally with Year 1 pupils

A passion for supporting young children and encouraging their development
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach to working with children

Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of pupils

Understanding of basic child development and early learning strategies

Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are desirable, though not essential
