Tutor needed to support Permanently Excluded (PEX) Students

Location: Redcar

Position Type: Part-time/Full-time

Salary: £20 - £28 per hour

I am seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutor to support PEX students with their learning and education. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of students facing educational challenges and will have experience working with children or young adults in a similar context. Tuition sessions will take place either in the students’ home or a community hub/library, depending on the students’ individual circumstances.

Responsibilities:

  • Individualised Instruction: Provide tailored educational support to PEX students across various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans and materials that align with each student’s educational goals and capabilities.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Supportive Environment: Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and resilience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with parents, guardians, and other professionals to develop and implement effective educational plans.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and outcomes, and prepare reports for stakeholders as required.
  • Mentoring: Offer guidance and mentoring to help students build confidence, self-esteem, and essential life skills.

Skills needed:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification (desirable).
  • Experience working with students who have been excluded or have special educational needs (SEN).
  • Strong understanding of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Additional qualifications in SEN or behavioural support.
  • Experience and knowledge of UK curriculum.
  • Knowledge of local educational policies and support services.
