Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Primary School Support
Start Date: September 2025 

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school to recruit a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. About the Role:

This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience — or a strong interest — in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • ADHD

  • Speech and Language difficulties

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide both 1:1 support and small group interventions, helping pupils access learning in a positive, structured environment. You'll also work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with diverse SEN needs

  • Assist in lesson planning and classroom organisation

  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment

  • Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies

  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies

  • Monitor and report on student progress

✅ Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential)

  • A calm, compassionate, and patient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Psychology degree, or equivalent experience)

  • Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
