Protocol Education is supporting a friendly and inclusive primary school to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Level 2).

Are you passionate about supporting pupils’ learning and development in a nurturing school environment? Our client is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to work closely with teaching staff to help pupils access the curriculum and thrive both academically and personally.

About the Role:

  • Provide support to pupils, including those with special educational needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping to meet their individual learning and personal needs.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education, Behaviour, Support, and Personal Care Plans.

  • Support pupils’ engagement and independence, promoting inclusion and positive behaviour.

  • Work alongside teachers to plan and deliver learning activities, prepare classroom resources, and support pupils during lessons.

  • Monitor and record pupils’ progress and provide feedback to teachers.

  • Assist with routine administrative tasks including preparing materials, photocopying, and maintaining resources.

  • Support the curriculum through structured learning activities, including literacy, numeracy, and ICT.

  • Supervise pupils during out-of-class times, including before and after school and lunchtimes.

  • Participate in school trips and extracurricular activities under supervision.

  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities policies.

Role Details:

  • Location: Within commuting distance of Shrewsbury.

  • Grade: Grade 5 (SCP 6).

  • Reporting to the Headteacher.

  • Full-time or part-time hours available (flexible to discuss).

  • Experience supporting children in a classroom setting, ideally with some experience of SEND.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Reliability, patience, and a proactive approach.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

  • Willingness to engage with ongoing training and professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
