Teaching Assistant – Key Stages 3 & 4

Protocol Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support teachers and contribute to an enriching learning experience for students in Shropshire.
Your role
You will work closely with teaching staff and students to help create a positive and productive learning environment. Supporting students individually or in small groups, assisting with classroom management, preparing materials, and encouraging social and emotional well-being will be key parts of your day. You’ll also support the school’s specialist Hub, which offers holistic and therapeutic interventions alongside mainstream lessons.

Key responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with classroom management and student supervision
- Support students academically, providing extra explanations and practice
- Prepare lesson materials, classroom displays, and visual aids
- Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour
- Support students’ social and emotional well-being in an inclusive environment
- Assist with administrative duties including attendance and grading
- Encourage integration of technology into lessons
- Collaborate with staff to support overall educational goals
- Ensure safety during classroom activities and breaks
Who we’re looking for
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in education or care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and flexibility to work with diverse learners
- Basic classroom management knowledge
- Passion for education and student success
- SEN experience is an advantage
