 SEND Teacher for Complex Autism & High Sensory Needs Leeds & Surrounding areas

A school we are proud to work with in the inner Leeds area are currently seeking a highly motivated SEND Teacher to work with students with complex autism with high levels of sensory needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in dealing with non-verbal students and supporting sensory seeking behaviors. The Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for each student, assessing their progress, and working collaboratively with families and the rest of the school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Our SEMH Teachers’ duties can include:

  • Planning and delivering adaptable lessons to a wide range of pupils and abilities
  • Establishing a safe and stimulating learning environment
  • Teach useful strategies that will aid the students in their out of school lives
  • Marking effectively to enable progression with students
  • Safeguarding of all students and staff
  • Assessments both internal and external including some vocational qualifications.
  • 1-to-1 Intervention
  • Group intervention
  • Whole schoolwork

The ideal applicant will have:

  • QTS/ECT
  • Experience teaching a range of subjects
  • SEND experience (ADD, ADHD, ODD, CAMHS, Complex Needs, Behaviour Difficulties, Autism or MLD.)
  • Form and build strong relationships
  • Be able to de-escalate behavioural needs safely and calmly
  • Experience of teaching in either mainstream secondary, SEND settings, pupil referral unit or SEMH schools.
  • The ability to plan deliver and mark a minimum of a good lesson
  • Be able to commute easily
  • Possess excellent behaviour management skills in line with the schools policy

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
