SEMH Teacher – For the Ones Who Need You Most
 Leeds | Multi-site specialist setting

Pay based on experience & quals

Some classrooms need more than a teacher.
They need a role model. A steady presence. Someone who sees beyond behaviour to the child underneath.

If you’re the kind of educator who leads with empathy, holds strong boundaries with care, and believes every young person deserves a chance to succeed—this SEMH teaching role might just be your next chapter.

 The Setting:
A specialist provision in Leeds supporting pupils with significant social, emotional and mental health needs—many of whom have experienced trauma, disrupted education, or exclusion. It’s not easy work, but it’s powerful. And it changes lives.

 Your Role:

  • Teach small classes with high staff-to-pupil ratios

  • Build trust with young people who may have never felt safe at school

  • Plan engaging, flexible lessons that meet diverse emotional and academic needs

  • Support pupils in understanding and regulating behaviour

  • Work closely with therapists, TAs, and parents to provide joined-up care

  • Celebrate the good days, hold space on the hard ones, and never give up

 We’re Looking For:

  • QTS or ECT/NQT status (experience in SEMH or PRU settings is a big plus)

  • An ability to connect with learners others may have written off

  • A grounded, trauma-informed approach to behaviour

  • Patience, resilience, humour—and a strong team ethos

  • A reliable way to get to school, and a mindset that puts young people first

 What You’ll Get in Return:

  • Weekly PAYE pay—no cheeky umbrella deductions

  • FREE CPD: Team Teach, Thrive, Safeguarding & more

  • A dedicated SEND consultant who understands SEMH (and will be there when you need a vent or a victory lap)

  • Flexible roles—full or part-time—to suit your life

  • The deep, quiet joy of making school feel safe for someone who’s never had that before

✨ Teaching here is never just about lessons. It’s about hope, consistency, and human connection.
