The school is a large and successful 11-18 split-site school with a vibrant learning environment and a strong community ethos. Main Responsibilities:
In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Main Pay Scale Job Description for all teachers, the postholder will be responsible to the Head of Department, Leadership Group Line Manager, Headteacher, and any other designated Line Manager(s) for the following:

Assist in ensuring high-quality teaching and learning that meets the needs of all students.

Teach across the full age and ability range as directed, with a particular focus on Sixth Form students.

Promote student interest in and commitment to the subject.
-
Implement whole-school policies (including equal opportunities, health and safety, and security).
-
Work as part of a team to identify underachievement and celebrate good work and effort.
-
Assist with the implementation of departmental policies (including assessment), and contribute to the continuous development of the department.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance, punctuality, and assessment records for all teaching groups.

Contribute to the ongoing development of the department, keeping abreast of relevant curriculum changes and assisting with their implementation as per the School/Department’s Development Plan.

Support links with feeder primary schools and further and higher education colleges.

Participate in lesson observations and scrutiny of student work.

Support subject-related pupil activities, such as educational visits.

Provide general administrative support to the department.

Maintain high standards of classroom management, order, and discipline.

As part of the teaching staff, you will be expected to teach PSHE and serve as a form tutor within the pastoral support and personal development curriculum.

Strong subject knowledge in English.

Understanding of how effective teaching promotes pupil progress.

Awareness of key features of inclusive teaching and learning.

Familiarity with using data to support teaching and learning.

Ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet expectations for effective teaching.

Capability to inspire and motivate students.

Competence in providing students with effective written feedback.

Strong communication skills, with an ability to tailor communication to the appropriate audience.

Demonstrable understanding of equality principles and commitment to equal opportunities.

Ability to influence and support the development of good practice, appropriate to career stage.

Ability to form strong, effective relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
