Do you have the resilience of a marathon runner and the quick thinking of a sports coach mid-game? Then this might be the role for you.
We’re working with a lovely primary school in Fenham, Newcastle, who are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support a young pupil with significant behavioural needs. He’s bright, full of energy, and has a real talent for sport. He needs someone who can match his pace and keep him engaged in the classroom as well as on the playground.
This role isn’t for the faint-hearted. The pupil can struggle to regulate his emotions, and at times he may leave the classroom unexpectedly. That’s where your calm head, initiative, and sense of humour come in.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Working 1:1 with a pupil who needs structure, patience, and positivity
-
Using sport and movement as a way to build trust and engagement
-
Supporting the class teacher with routines, boundaries, and strategies
-
Helping create a safe and consistent environment for learning
We’re looking for someone who:
-
Has experience supporting children with behavioural needs (SEND/SEMH experience ideal)
-
Is resilient, adaptable, and quick on their feet
-
Brings energy and enthusiasm, especially when it comes to sport
-
Can build strong relationships through kindness and consistency
