Sports Coach – SEND/SEMH Focus

We’re working with a brilliant school that puts inclusion, wellbeing, and individual support at the heart of everything they do. It’s a nurturing environment for children with SEND and SEMH needs, and they know how much sport can boost confidence, spark joy, and create real moments of connection.

They’re now on the lookout for a dedicated Sports Coach who can bring energy, empathy, and adaptability to their team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading fun, inclusive sports sessions that are carefully adapted to each student’s needs and strengths.

  • Making sure every child can join in and thrive, whatever their starting point.

  • Creating a safe, team-focused atmosphere where students build confidence, resilience, and trust.

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to make sure activities align with student goals and IEPs.

  • Tracking progress and celebrating those wins—big and small.

  • Using sport as a tool for emotional regulation, social growth, and building self-worth.

  • Being a steady, positive presence who students can rely on and feel safe with.

  • Keeping everything safe, structured, and aligned with school and health guidelines.

Who we’re looking for:
You might have a background in sports science, physical education, or coaching. You’ll ideally bring experience working with young people with SEND or SEMH needs, but above all, it’s about the right attitude: patient, playful, calm under pressure, and truly passionate about helping students grow.

Skills that make a difference:

  • Adapting activities on the fly to suit diverse needs

  • Strong communication and a warm, approachable manner

  • Clear understanding of safeguarding and a genuine commitment to student welfare

  • Creativity in delivering engaging, meaningful sport-based sessions

Bonus points if you have:

  • Qualifications related to SEND or SEMH

  • Experience in similar school settings

  • Thrive training (If not, we’ll help you access it for free—schools love it, and it really helps you stand out)

Why work through Protocol Education?

  • Weekly pay (PAYE only)

  • A personal, experienced consultant to back you up

  • Free access to 50+ CPD courses (and yes, that includes Thrive!)

  • A proven track record with 4000+ schools across the UK

  • We’ve helped 10,000+ educators find fulfilling work
