Some pupils need more than a worksheet. They need someone who understands how they communicate—and helps them grow in confidence.

We’re looking for a patient, supportive, and switched-on Speech & Language Support TA to work across inclusive primary schools in Lewisham. You’ll play a vital role in helping pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) access learning, build their confidence, and develop essential skills.

You don’t need to be a speech therapist—but you do need empathy, consistency, and a love for helping children find their voice.

What your role might involve:

  • 1:1 or small group sessions focusing on communication development

  • Supporting pupils with speech delays, processing needs, or social language skills

  • Liaising with SENCOs, speech therapists, and teachers to deliver personalised support

  • Encouraging verbal interaction, vocabulary use, and communication strategies

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting pupils with SLCN or related needs

  • Brings calm, positive energy to their support role

  • Is confident using visuals, routines, and communication tools

  • Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service – or is happy to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
