Protocol Education is working closely with a number of inclusive and supportive SEND schools in Newcastle who are looking to welcome caring, committed, and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to their teams. These schools provide tailored support for pupils with a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.

The Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work one-to-one or with small groups of pupils, helping to meet their individual learning and emotional needs

  • Assist teachers in creating lessons that are accessible, engaging, and adapted to each pupil’s needs

  • Support pupils with personal care if required

  • Promote positive behaviour and create a calm, supportive learning environment

  • Work alongside SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to provide coordinated support

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, whether in school, care, or youth settings

  • A patient, adaptable, and caring approach

  • Confidence in communication and a calm, consistent approach to behaviour management

  • A genuine commitment to helping children with additional needs thrive

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
