Protocol Education is working closely with a number of inclusive and nurturing SEND schools across Gateshead who are looking to appoint dedicated and patient Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.

The Role:

As a SEND TA, you will:

  • Work 1:1 or with small groups of pupils to support their individual learning and emotional needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.

  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required.

  • Use strategies to manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with other professionals such as SENCOs and therapists.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in school or other settings).

  • A calm, caring, and adaptable approach.

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
