Support Pupils in a Leading Shrewsbury Specialist School

We’re working with a prominent specialist school in Shrewsbury that supports around 400 students aged 2–19, with a wide range of complex needs from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning disabilities, autism, physical needs, and communication challenges.

As part of a multi-academy trust, the school offers a carefully tailored curriculum and a focused sixth form to match each pupil’s stage of development and help them engage and learn.

The Role

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support designed around EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists, and care staff to deliver structured, pathway-based learning
  • Help facilitate communication, sensory and mobility support, personal care and use of specialist equipment
  • Maintain a safe, orderly environment and assist with behaviour and emotional regulation

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people in a specialist or high-needs setting
  • Calm, professional demeanour with a methodical approach to routine and structure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across disciplines
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, with a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, sensory strategies, or similar approaches
  • Training in moving and handling, Team Teach or behaviour protocols
  • Experience supporting pupils with medical or physical needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
