Job Title: 1:1 Tutor – Gateshead (Driving Essential)
Location: Gateshead and surrounding areas
Start Date: ASAP / September 2025
Salary: £25 – £30 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Part-Time / Flexible Hours
Support pupils who need it most – one session at a time.
Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and adaptable 1:1 Tutor to deliver tailored educational support to students across Gateshead. These pupils may be out of mainstream education due to medical needs, anxiety, SEND, or behavioural challenges. Sessions take place in homes, libraries, schools or alternative settings — therefore, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
What the role involves:

Delivering 1:1 tuition in core subjects (primarily English and Maths)

Adapting learning plans to suit individual needs, EHCPs or learning gaps

Building trust, boosting confidence and helping pupils re-engage in education

Providing regular feedback and session reports

Working closely with school staff, families and local authorities
Ideal candidates will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), HLTA status, or relevant tutoring experience

A nurturing, flexible and student-centred approach

Experience supporting young people with SEND, SEMH or barriers to learning

Strong subject knowledge, particularly in English and Maths (KS2–KS4)

A full driving licence and access to a car – this is essential for the role
