SEND Tutor – Newcastle
Location: Newcastle
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: Competitive and dependent on experience (PAYE – no umbrella faff)
One learner. One plan. One tutor who gets it.
If you’re someone who thrives in a one-to-one setting—where real progress is made and every lightbulb moment matters—we’ve got just the role.
We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Tutor to provide individualised, one-to-one tuition for children and young people in Newcastle. You’ll be supporting pupils with additional needs—including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and SEMH—outside of traditional classroom settings, helping them grow in confidence and build a love of learning at their own pace.
This is about quality over quantity. Tailored lessons. Meaningful relationships. Real impact.
What the role involves:
-
Delivering bespoke, one-to-one sessions tailored to each learner’s needs and interests
-
Adapting your teaching to support emotional regulation, confidence, and independence
-
Using creative and therapeutic approaches to engage pupils who’ve struggled in mainstream settings
-
Liaising with parents, carers, and professionals to keep support consistent and purposeful
-
Tracking progress and flexing your methods as needed—because no two learners are the same
What you’ll bring:
-
Experience working with SEND learners—especially in 1:1, tutoring, or mentoring roles
-
A calm, compassionate approach and excellent listening skills
-
Strong understanding of diverse SEND needs and how to adapt your teaching accordingly
-
A relevant qualification is welcome, but not essential
-
An up-to-date DBS (or willingness to get one through us)
