SEND Teaching Assistant – South Tyneside
Full-Time | September Start | SEMH, Autism & MLD Support

We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND setting in South Tyneside this September.

This school is known for its nurturing environment and focus on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Conditions, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

It’s a place where strong relationships, creative learning approaches, and a flexible mindset make all the difference.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, and MLD both in class and through small-group interventions

  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills

  • Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation, and communication needs

  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff in a consistent, positive way

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with SEND, particularly SEMH, Autism, or MLD

  • A calm, patient approach and a real passion for helping pupils thrive

  • Willingness to adapt, learn, and work collaboratively

  • Full-time availability from September

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
