Are you the calm in the classroom storm? The steady hand when things get tricky? We’re looking for a compassionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive specialist school in Gateshead this September.

About the Role:

You’ll be working 1:1 or in small groups, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, communication challenges, and complex learning difficulties. Every day brings variety, joy, and the chance to be someone’s constant in a world that doesn’t always make sense.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting daily routines, structured learning and sensory activities

  • Using communication tools (PECS, Makaton, AAC) to connect and engage

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families

  • Creating a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment


What You’ll Need:

  • Experience working with SEND (in schools or care settings)

  • A positive, resilient approach and excellent communication

  • A warm heart, a cool head, and bags of patience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
