Believe in Fresh Starts? So Do We.

If you know that behaviour is communication—and that every child deserves the chance to feel safe, supported, and understood—this could be the role for you.

We’re working with a specialist primary setting in Newcastle that supports children who’ve faced significant barriers to learning. Many have experienced trauma, exclusion, or unmet needs, and are now beginning their journey back into education in a nurturing, structured environment that puts relationships first.

This isn’t your average classroom role. You’ll be part of a small, skilled team helping children re-engage with learning—often for the first time in a while. Through calm, consistent support, you’ll help pupils feel seen, valued, and ready to take positive steps forward.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support for children with SEMH and SEND needs

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, classroom transitions, and daily routines

  • Building strong, trusting relationships that help rebuild confidence in school

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to keep support consistent and effective

  • Encouraging not just academic progress, but social, emotional, and personal growth

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs

  • A calm, trauma-informed approach and the ability to defuse challenging situations with empathy

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • A belief in inclusion, patience, and the long game when it comes to progress

Not Thrive-trained yet? That’s okay. We offer FREE Thrive CPD so you can develop the skills and understanding to support emotional wellbeing in the classroom.

What You’ll Get Through Protocol Education

  • Weekly pay via PAYE (no umbrella deductions)

  • FREE access to CPD, including Thrive and behaviour management training

  • A dedicated consultant who understands specialist and alternative provision

  • Long-term placements in schools where support staff are truly valued

  • Opportunities to grow your career in SEND, SEMH, or therapeutic education

Sound Like You?
