Do you believe every young person should be safe, respected and empowered to reach their potential?

We’re hiring for an exceptional SEMH and ASD specialist provision in Northumberland, part of the Prosper Learning Trust. The school’s mission is to provide inclusive, personalised education for young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs—creating a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment where everyone is valued and empowered to thrive .

What the role involves

  • Supporting pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH needs and/or autism, working closely from Thrive or Positive Behaviour Support approaches

  • Providing 1:1 or small-group support to help pupils manage emotions and engage with learning

  • Using structured routines, visuals, and sensory strategies to support regulation and self-awareness—skills central to the school’s values

  • Reinforcing pro‑social behaviour, empathy, and a growth mindset as part of daily learning support

  • Collaborating with teaching staff, therapists, and families to deliver personalised learning and behaviour plans

  • Providing respectful, clear feedback on progress, behaviour, and wellbeing

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH or SEND—ideally in education, care, or community settings

  • A calm, consistent presence who helps pupils feel safe and able to take small steps forward

  • Someone who models resilience, integrity and kindness—aligned with the school’s core values

  • Team players with initiative, who believe “everyone does the right thing because it’s the right thing to do”

  • Willingness to engage with free CPD—including Thrive, Positive Behaviour Support or trauma-informed approaches via Protocol Education

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • PAYE weekly pay with no umbrella fees

  • Free access to specialist SEND CPD, including Thrive and behaviour support

  • Local SEND consultant familiar with Northumberland SEMH provisions

  • Transparent, swift onboarding and full support throughout your placement

  • Roles in environments where staff are seen and valued as vital contributors

This is a role where your presence shapes futures—where emotional growth matters as much as academic progress.
